This work provides a practical user's manual on ergonomics and children, for professionals who design products and for those who work and play with children. The first section covers child abilities and health, with chapters on developmental stages, child anthropometry, visual and hearing ergonomics, and physical development. This is followed by a brief section on injuries and disabilities, and product design for toys and book bags. Of special interest is a chapter on accommodating children with disabilities in developing countries, with case studies and photos for building simple assistive devices. Subsequent sections cover design factors and safety issues in the home, at school, and in public places, with material on children's use of computers and electronic games, children in vehicles, children and youth working on farms, classroom furniture, playground equipment, and museums.
