Elizabeth Perkins was born and raised in Louisville, KY. She started traveling in 2008 when she spent a semester studying in the Dominican Republic. Four years later, to the surprise of her loved ones, she packed up and moved to Managua to begin working as a member of Witness for Peace’s (WFP) International Team, with whom she studied foreign policy and facilitated US delegations to Nicaragua. Never having been to Central America before, she faced a steep learning curve, but she has since mastered the public bus system and developed a soft spot for the capital city.
When she’s not traveling, Elizabeth can be found trying to keep cool in the Managua heat, doing yoga, cooking anything from granola to Mexican food, teaching her Nicaraguan dog commands in English, or reading a good book in a hammock.
