Chance Thomas is an American composer, educator and entrepreneur. He is best known for scoring blockbuster video games likeDOTA 2, Lord of the Rings Online, James Cameron’s Avatar, Might & Magic, Dungeons & Dragons Online,Peter Jackson’s King Kong and many others. His work is both critically acclaimed and commercially successful, with more than 40 music awards and nominations and billions of dollars in game sales worldwide.
Chance is a passionate advocate for game music. He led the movement which first brought game music into the Grammy Awards. He helped found the Game Audio Network Guild and serves on its Board of Directors. He is a former Audio Advisor for the Game Developers Conference and a past Chair of the Music and Sound Peer Committees for the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences.
Chance has held leadership positions at corporate game studios, including Studio Audio Director at Electronic Arts, Music Director at Vivendi-Universal Games and Senior Music Producer at Sierra Online. Today, he speaks regularly at universities, music schools and game industry events teaching game music design, music composition and production, implementation techniques and business strategies.
Outside of gaming, his music can be heard on hit television shows like Pawn Stars, The Bachelorette, America’s Most Wanted andLost Treasure Hunt.
