Sadovskii (Institute for Electrophysics, Russia) reviews the theoretical and experimental works on the problem of the mutual interplay of Anderson localization and superconductivity in strongly disordered systems, noting that superconductivity appears close to the metal-insulator transition in some such systems, such as amorphous metals and superconducting compounds disordered by fast neutron irradiation. He starts by discussing briefly some modern aspects of localization theory including the basic concept of scaling, self- consistent theory, and interaction effects. Then he analyzes disorder effects on Cooper pairing and superconducting transition temperature as well as Ginzburg-Landay equations close to the Anderson transition.
