The Cavalry of the Army of the Cumberland

Belcher charts the Civil War activities of the Union cavalry of the Army of the Cumberland from 1862 to 1864. His sections cover David S. Stanley, Robert B. Mitchell, and Washington Lafayette Elliott--all generals who served as chief of cavalry. Among his topics are the Battle of Stones River, middle Tennessee from January to June 1863, the Battle of Chickamauga, the Knoxville Campaign and campaigning in East Tennessee: a new beginning, preparations for the Atlanta Campaign: two divisions divided, and Atlanta to Lovejoy's Station August to October of 1864.
