商品簡介
Ives presents a body of research on glacial geomorphology and glaciology that was conducted mid-nineteenth century in Baffin Island, Arctic Canada. This “golden age” in Canadian federal government research in the North heralded the advancement of research of this sort, which was until then under-explored and under-researched. The book focuses on the efforts to conduct a series of research expeditions in the Canadian North and to therefore establish Canada’s first specific federal glaciological unit. An aspect of that effort covered includes gender equality for women in field operations. Baffin Island also features a large number of Hasselblad color photos, which contribute as a record of the landscape prior to issues of global warming. Distributed by Michigan State U. Press.
