Reaction Engineering Principles

The is a textbook written for the core subject of Chemical Reaction Engineering. It helps students grasp the concepts and apply them in solving engineering problems. To this end the book includes numerous figures, worked examples and problems for practice that will help students understand the finer details. The broad contents of the book include stoichiometry, chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, ideal isothermal batch and flow reactors, nonisothermal reactors, nonideal flow in reactors, and reactors of special types, including electrochemical, biochemical, and catalyzed packed and fluidized. Detailed derivations provided for all important mathematical equations are included.

Professor Ghatak has taught at university for 20 years and is currently Associate Dean (Research & Consultancy) at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology, India. He received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from this institution and ME and BE from IIT Roorkee. He has written several journal articles and a book chapter and has received a patent for "Process for large scale hydrogen production from renewable sources".
