商品簡介
During the fertile period 1955-65 and through a process of trial and error, television emerged in a form which would be familiar for the next half century. Janet Thumim investigates two aspects of this formation. The first entails attempts to build a mass audience through production strategies, programmes, schedules, and emergent generic modes. The second aspect concerns the place of women and the concept of 'feminine' in the new institution. Inventing Television Culture explores the productive interplay of two terms, television and the feminine, both of which were evolving rapidly during the period, in the context of the contemporary discursive climate.
