商品簡介
Noting transmission's connotations of intention as well as distance traversing, Mersmann (non-Western and European art, Jacobs U. Bremen) and Schneider (film studies, Freie U. Berlin) introduce 13 multidisciplinary essays that examine the agenda transpiring, intercultural transmitting, and transmigrating roles of media images. European scholars treat images as carriers of religious, cultural, political, and scientific values, identities, and practices. Discussions span the role of images in anatomical atlases historically, the biases of ethnographic images, juxtaposition of transcultural images in Bollywood films, and Merleau-Ponty's philosophy of image. Multi media images are featured. Annotation ©2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
