By conducting case studies of five demographically diverse congregations,Intersectionality in Intentional Communities examines the daily practices of change and entrenchment in Protestant congregations and the intentional work to replace dominating structures with liberating ones. Zerai argues that volitional communities such as these may provide a best-case scenario for how, motivated by higher ideals, members find ways to create multicultural, antiracist, and feminist environments that are inclusive of LGBTIQ communities.
