Geologist Wade Edward Speer retired as a field expert in evaluating copper, gold, silver, diamond and emerald deposits. The founder of the only science-based Brown Mountain Lights blog, www.brownmountainlights.blogspot.com, he has participated in more than 93 expeditions during three years of researching the lights and has extensively photographed the area. He lives in Marion, North Carolina.
