Laying the groundwork for developing self-compassion in childhood, My New Best Friend shows how we can be kind and understanding toward ourselves, especially when we are the least likely to be that way.My New Best Friend teaches me to notice my feelings and respond to them with mindfulness and compassion!
A young girl tells us about her new best friend and all the ways she is supported by her—whether she's missing her grandmother, feeling frustrated over an arts-and-crafts accident, or enjoying some time on her yoga mat, her new best friend is always there to notice, understand, and validate how she feels. Through the girl's playful doodles of her new best friend, we realize that this friend is not so new after all, but a very special and important part of the girl's own world, a new best friend that loves her unconditionally from the inside.
