Mya, a black sheep of the family, often created a family within her small social circle; she lived a decent life until one day she believed that she heard the voice of God call out to her to change her life. When she found out that her first cousin had started a church, she saw it as an opportunity to obey God and connect with her family. She'd later learn that her cousin, a cult leader, would lead her down a dark path. ". . . And Deliver Us from Evil" is a memoir of her journey.

Mya Brooks is a native of Wisconsis. She is a motivational speaker, poet, and activist whose mission is to save lives. She tells stories that captivate the hearts of her audience. Her delivery is energetic and powerful, and many of her stories are a personal testimony of love, loss, and surviving abuse. While living in Wisconsin, she worked as a teacher, community outreach specialist, and antidomestic violence advocate. Mya currently resides in Arizona with her husband and her daughter. Moving to Arizona has been a meaningful journey of self-discovery with hopes of reconciling with family.
