Historically the focus of EMS has been pre-hospital clinical care, they say, and though this remains the focus, recent trends have placed a greater emphasis on operational and economic aspects, and the Affordable Care Act is driving changes in how emergency medical services will be funded and how health care will be delivered, for example through community paramedics.
