Foundations of Ems Systems

In what was originally called Introduction to EMS Systems, Walz and Zigmont provide an overview of emergency medical services (EMS) for students, administrators, government officials, and others. The textbook also serves as an introduction in the Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education EMS series. Historically the focus of EMS has been pre-hospital clinical care, they say, and though this remains the focus, recent trends have placed a greater emphasis on operational and economic aspects, and the Affordable Care Act is driving changes in how emergency medical services will be funded and how health care will be delivered, for example through community paramedics.
