This work unites international contributors in computer science, information systems, electronic engineering, robotics, telecommunications engineering, and computer mathematical modeling to chart the latest developments in high performance computing (HPC). Major themes are Big Data, cloud computing, CPU/GPU architectures, and exascale supercomputers. An introductory chapter looks at problems that must be solved to continue progress towards exascale computing, and also discusses emerging technologies in HPC such as accelerators, low-power architectures, mobile SoCs, and memory based storage.
