商品簡介

A sweeping overview of world affairs and, especially having come across the name of William Yandell Elliott, Professor of Politics at Harvard through the first half of the 20th century. Sean found that Elliott had created a kindergarten of Anglo-American imperialists amongst his students, who included Henry Kissinger, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Samuel P. Huntington, and McGeorge Bundy. Upon further investigation, Sean came to understand Elliott’s own integral role, connecting the modern national-security establishment with the British Round Table Movement’s design to re-incorporate America into the British ?empire’. Whether that goal was achieved will be left to the reader to decide. However, it cannot be denied that W.Y. Elliott’s life and intellectual history serves to demonstrate the interlocking relationship between academia, government, and big business.

作者簡介

Peter Dale Scott (born 11 January 1929)[1] is a Canadian-born poet, academic, and diplomat. A son of the Canadian poet and constitutional lawyer F. R. Scott and painter Marian Dale Scott, he is best known for his critiques of deep politics and American foreign policy since the era of the Vietnam War. Although trained as a political scientist, Scott holds an atypical academic appointment as a poet-scholar in an English department. After receiving undergraduate degrees in philosophy (first-class honours) and political science (second-class honours) from McGill University in 1949, he studied at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques (1949) and University College, Oxford (1950-1952) before receiving a Ph.D in political science from McGill (with a dissertation on T.S. Eliot as a social and political philosopher) in 1955. He briefly taught in McGill's political science department and spent four years (1957–1961) with the Canadian diplomatic service before joining the speech department of the University of California, Berkeley as a lecturer in 1961. He was subsequently promoted to assistant professor of speech (1962), associate professor of English (1968), and professor of English (1980); since his nominal retirement in 1994, he has served as professor emeritus of English.[2][3] He was a signatory in 1968 of the "Writers and Editors War Tax Protest" pledge, in which participants vowed to refuse tax payments in protest against the Vietnam War.[4] Sean Stone has grown up in the film-world, having acted since childhood in his father Oliver Stone’s films, including The Doors, JFK, and Natural Born Killers (1994), Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, before becoming a director in his own right with Greystone Park (2012). Young Stone majored in American History, studying at Oxford and Princeton University, graduating from Princeton in 2006 after completing his thesis on the 'New World Order'. By then he was fortunate enough to have worked with such organizations as Save the Children in Somalia, and the gang prevention program Unity-One for Jim Brown's Amer-I-Can group in Los Angeles. Stone co-hosted the third-season of the popular TV series Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura. He is currently the co-host of the RT news show Watching the Hawks, which airs internationally. Stone also hosts the weekly online interview program Buzzsaw on The Lip TV. Guido Giacomo Preparata is Associate Professor of Political Economy at the University of Washington. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, raised in the USA, France and Italy, he completed his PhD in Political Economy and Economic History at the University of Southern California in 1998.
