Conviction

For ten years, the Atlanta, Georgia police have been searching for whoever is taking girls between the ages of six and ten and returning them after three days, seemingly unharmed. None of the children remember anything, the small scar on their abdomen a reminder of what was taken from them. Twenty-miles south of Atlanta, Zeb Parrish says goodbye to his only child and buries his daughter beside her mother. Left to care for his six-year-old biracial granddaughter Lillie, not knowing how long he will be around to raise her, Zeb sets out to find the man who left his daughter behind, pregnant and broken hearted. After Zeb meets with the charismatic T.J. Bennett behind the same prison walls his brother died in, he begins to understand why his daughter fell in love with him. Zeb knows from reading his daughter's diaries that T.J. never knew he was going to be a father or that Lillie exists. He offers to take T.J. in after his release, saying he needs help fixing up the house that sits on the twenty-five acres that was once the Parrish peach tree orchard. In the prestigious Buckhead division of Atlanta, raised in the Church of Truth, pediatric surgeon Dr. Vince Monahan believes he was chosen by God to carry out the Holy Writ's Eleventh Commandment: “Thou shalt not enter into covenant with those of a different nation.” And when Vince looks into Lillie's round, apple green eyes when he meets her in the emergency room of Northside Hospital, she will be is the next child he will cleanse, giving yet another innocent child of God the gift of salvation.
