Advances and Applications Through Fungal Nanobiotechnology

Fungal nanobiotechnology has emerged as one of the key technologies, and an eco-friendly, as a source of food and harnessed to ferment and preserve foods and beverages, as well as applications in human health (antibiotics, anti-cholesterol statins, and immunosuppressive agents), while industry has used fungi for large-scale production of enzymes, acids, biosurfactants, and to manage fungal disease in crops and pest control. With the harnessing of nanotechnology, fungi have grown increasingly important by providing a greener alternative to chemically synthesized nanoparticles.

Dr. Ram Prasad is working as Assistant Professor, Amity Institute of Microbial Technology, Amity University Uttar Pradesh. He has completed his Ph.D. (Microbioloy) from Department of Microbiology, CCS University-Meerut, UP, India for which he did the experimental work in School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India. He did his M.Sc. in Life Sciences from School of Life Sciences, JNU, New Delhi and has qualified CSIR-NET,ASRB-NET and GATE. His area of interest are plant microbe interaction, agricultural and microbial nanobiotechnology.He has ninety three publications to his credit, which includes research papers and book chapters published in international and national level. He has also five patents issued/pending and edited/authors of four books. Dr Prasad has fourteen years of research experience and ten years of teaching experience. He was awarded Young Scientist Award (2007) and Prof. J.S. DattaMunshi Gold Medal (2009) by International Society for Ecological Communications;? FSAB fellowship (2010) by Society for Applied Biotechnology; Outstanding Scientist Award (2015) in the field of Microbiology by Venus International Foundation and American Cancer Society UICC International Fellowships, USA (2014) for Beginning Investigators. Dr Prasad served as Visiting Assistant Professor in Whiting School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical engineering, Johns Hopkins University, USA from September 2014-September 2015.
