Simos Vamvakidis holds a BSc in Civil engineering and a five year Diploma degree in Architecture from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA),Greece. He also holds a Master's in Architecture degree (MArchII) from the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), Usa. He is PhD candidate at NTUA, focusing on small scale architectural installations using digital and parametric design tools as well as computer aided manufacturing.
His teaching experience includes architecture schools in the UK, Greece and Lebanon, where he taught 4th and 5th year design studios as a Lecturer and as a Visiting Assistant Professor. A number of awards in international architectural competitions have being awarded to SVstudio, a practice he founded in 2006.
He has also built a number of retail and housing projects in Greece and the Usa. Research papers and built or project proposals of his have being published in international conferences and magazines throughout the world, such as eCAADe, FRAME and Archdaily.
His past experience extends to international architecture firms such as UNstudio in Amsterdam and Dax studio in Los Angeles, where he worked as an architect. He is a licensed architect in Greece and his work has been exhibited at the young architects Bienalle in Greece in 2015, 2013 and 2011. He has been invited as an external examiner in 4th and 5th year design studios in Liverpool, Athens, Nicosia, Beirut and Izmir.
