Lincoln Ballard received his Ph.D. in Music History from the University of Washington in 2010 under the guidance of Stephen Rumph, and his research has primarily focused on popular music and twentieth-century art music. Ballard specializes in the music of Alexander Scriabin, and his dissertation offered the first comprehensive study of Scriabin’s posthumous reception history in Russia and in the West. Ballard has taught music history and appreciation at the University of Washington, University of Puget Sound, Southwestern College, and Cascadia Community College.
Matthew Bengtson is a graduate of Harvard University in computer science and of the Peabody Conservatory in piano performance. He is Assistant Professor of Piano Literature at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance. Critically acclaimed as a “musician’s pianist,” he has a unique combination of musical talents ranging from pianist, harpsichordist, and fortepianist to composer and analyst.
John Bell Young is the founder and CEO of Identity Marketing for Concert Artists, Inc, a consultant agency that produces recordings for numerous labels and concert artists. Winner of the 1985 Chopin Foundation Council Prize in New York, Young is also a leading authority on the music of Alexander Scriabin. He is a prominent music critic whose columns for the American Record Guide, Opera News, Clavier, Classical DisCDigest, the St. Petersburg Times and the popular online publications, Tower of Babel and Music & Vision.
