Arthur Miller's Life and Literature ─ An Annotated and Comprehensive Guide

For most of the two years Koorey (theater and film, Valencia Community College) spent on her doctoral dissertation on American playwright Miller, she says she was looking through bibliographic resources and data bases. Disgusted with the incomplete or outdated references, she decided to save future scholars from such effort. She cites and describes primary sources such as plays for stage and screen, fiction and poetry, essays, speeches, interviews, and correspondence. Then she turns to secondary sources, including doctoral dissertations, biographical news articles, general and play-specific appraisals, fiction and nonfiction, and unpublished conference papers. Stefani Koorey holds a Ph.D in theatre history and dramatic criticism, as well as an M.A. in theatre arts and an M.F.A in theatre management—all from Penn State University. She has enjoyed a varied professional life as a dramaturg, storyteller, writer, editor, professor, box office manager, and librarian. She recently revised and edited a new edition ofStory Programs: A Sourcebook of Materials (Scarecrow Press 2000) and is teaching theatre, film, acting, and humanities while she revises her dissertation for publication.
