The series is cited in Books for College Libraries, 3d ed. Eight volumes of official records and six of debates have previously been published. This is the first of three volumes devoted to correspondence: letters to or from members, letters written by an individual that relate information not available from other sources, and newspaper items written by or to a member that present new information about the Congress or its members. Letters are presented in their entirety or they are excerpted for their relevant sections. Each document is annotated with information about source text and circumstances of its authorship.
