But humble Karl discovers a gift for clockwork—the magic of gears and cogs—and assembles a mechanical army to fight back. Joined by the children themselves, Karl endeavors to save the village, the ancient oak, and maybe—just maybe—something more besides.

Adam Kline has written for Focus Features, Sony Pictures Animation, the Weinstein Company, Warner Brothers, Walt Disney Pictures, and Twentieth Century Fox. With Kung Fu Panda director Mark Osborne, Kline is currently adapting Jeff Smith’s graphic novel Bone for Warner Brothers and Lin Pictures. Mr. Kline’s two children’s novels, With Kind Regards from Kindergarten (tentatively renamed The Clockwork War) and Escape from Hat, are currently in development at Fox. An active member of the Writers Guild, Kline attended Kenyon College. He has two children.
