Jennifer Bonner majored in art at Carleton College. Born with severe heart defects, she nevertheless lived a full and joyful adolescence with her parents, Bob and Barbara, and her brother, Tim. She spent most of 1988 waiting to receive a heart transplant.After working as a medical writer, Susan Cushman attended medical school at the University of Minnesota, where she also completed her residency. She practiced as an ob/gyn in the Minneapolis metro area for more than twenty years. With her husband, novelist Charlie Quimby, she lives in Minnesota and Colorado.
