Jose L. Gasch-Tomas, Ph.D. (1984), Universidad Pablo de Olavide (UPO), is researcher at the Area of Early Modern History at that university. He has published many chapters and articles on the history of the Spanish Empire and Spanish America, and on international trade and material culture, during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries .
