Spirituality in Mission ― Embracing the Lifelong Journey

Authors from eighteen countries give us their perspectives on biblical principles and cultural expressions of spirituality particularly as the church engages in God's mission. The anthology of texts enriches our understanding of the depth and the meaning of being spiritual and the diversity of forms to live out the Christian faith. The issue today is how spirituality should direct and guide a daily life as followers of Jesus in the engagement in the mission of God. No doubt that it has to do with our inner life and our relationship to God, but it is in showing our love and concern to others that we prove our love to God, according to the Apostle John (1 John 4). Mission without spirituality will only be a human effort to convince people of religious theories. Spirituality without a missionary involvement of the church will not express God's desire that the transforming gospel reaches every person. This book will help you rethink your understanding of what is spiritual, revisit your own spiritual journey, and appreciate the different forms of spirituality as they are described and performed around the globe.

John Amalraj, son of a pastor, trained as a lawyer, further studied political science and human resources development and started his career in the corporate sector. He responded to the invitation to serve with India Missions Association (A national mission movement of agencies in India) in Chennai, New Delhi and Hyderabad involved in networking mission organizations, developing leaders and enabling strategic thinking. He also studied theology in Singapore while working with migrant Indian workers along with a local Methodist church. John served as the Executive Secretary (National Director & CEO) of Interserve- India from January 2006 until December 2017 envisioning, equipping and enabling Christian Professionals to be involved in global missions transforming communities through whole life mission. 

Geoffrey W. Hahn accepted Christ at a young age, and when he was a teenager God called him to cross-cultural missions. He completed his BA at Wheaton College, MDiv at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and doctorate at Denver Seminary (with a thesis on cross-cultural partnerships). 

William D. Taylor was born and raised in Latin America (dual nationality-Costa Rica and USA). His studies include Dip (Moody Bible Institute), BA (University of North Texas), ThM (Dallas Theological Seminary); PhD (University of Texas-Austin). He lived in Latin America for thirty years, seventeen of them with Yvonne in Guatemala under Camino Global at Seminario Teolo?gico Centroamericano, and worked with a creative church-planting team in Guatemala City. He has served global mission for over fifty years in diverse capacities.
