I left home after graduation to escape the physical abuse by my adopted father, only to get caught up in another abusive relationship at the hands of a boy with whom I had fallen in love. I endured physical abuse from him as well as mental abuse from his mother. I believed my love would change him, but over time he became more jealous and possessive and finally ended in attempted murder. His controlling and isolating ways kept me a prisoner from any friends and a normal life. Despite his continuous and escalating abuse, I married him anyway. His mother had an obsession to keep her son to herself at all costs. My fate was now in his hands. I would suffer a second near-fatal attack by my husband, but I survived. This book picks up where the first book left off and continues the tale of events. This is a story of strength, courage, and survival in the face of being manipulated, abused, and shot, not once, but twice. I had to learn how I could fight back against the love of my life who was also my abuser.
