Semm Yubah: An Arabian Son's Journey

Set against the backdrop of tribal clashes and revenge killings, the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the rise of Arab nationalism, colonialism and two World Wars, Semm Yubah: An Arabian Son's Journey recounts my grandfather's path from farmhand to merchant to an influential figure in the development of the Arabian Peninsula's Eastern Province. It is the story of how a 16-year-old Arabian boy in 1915, separated from family and home, became a man; how his sojourn began with him accompanying his father by camel caravan through a merciless desert for the sake of their family's survival; and how, a few years later, he was left on his own to make his way in the world. It was a journey that would forever change the course of his life and alter the destiny of his family.
