Anthony "Tommy" Compare is a young lawyer who works as an Assistant District Attorney in Massachusetts. Tommy's world is flipped upside down when he receives a phone call from his mother in which she desperately pleads for his help. Tommy's brother, Michael Compare, a tenderhearted young adult on the Autism Spectrum, is accused of voluntary manslaughter after he allegedly hit and killed a young girl with the family car. Placed in a tumultuous position, Tommy must leave the life he knows up North and travel to South Carolina to save his beloved brother. During the course of the legal proceedings, Tommy associates himself with Caroline Whittaker, a lawyer administered to practice in South Carolina. A whirlwind relationship begins to bud as the two attorneys attempt to preserve Michael's freedom. Along the way, Tommy must deal with his own inner-demons as he attempts to keep his family together.
