Secure, under lock and key, behind the walls of Somerset House - a hospital for the criminally insane - are some of the most dangerous murderers in America.
When Doctor Greene commits suicide, his daughter, Alice, goes to the remote island on which the hospital is located in an attempt to come to terms with her loss. Instead of the high-security facility she had expected, she finds a dilapidated hospital run by a skeleton staff and a lead psychiatrist who is desperate for her to leave before the arrival of an impending storm which would leave her stranded on the island.
