When Malkah tires of learning from books she leaves her father's library and travels the world learning from other cultures, digging through the past, and trying to sort out who she is and what she believes. She finally finds her beginnings in the Aleph-Bet, the Hebrew letters, and realizes that the letters hold intense spiritual power. In them she finds the origins of all of life, helping her understand not only her own creation story, but that of the entire universe.
