商品簡介
Rebel populism explores both how and why a small group of ordinary rural-to-urban migrant men threw their support behind the Syrian uprising. As an ethnographic study, it adopts a bottom-up perspective, drawing on over five-years of sustained participant-observation (2011 - 2017). From this small-scale, intimate approach, the book makes broader arguments. It suggests that suggests that the rise and retreat of oppositional politics among workers might help explain not only the outbreak, course, and collapse of the Syrian revolution, but also populist mass uprisings more generally.
