Kara's intentionally isolated life working as a Landscaper for the city of Widowbrook keeps her skills sharp. Being responsible for all plant life on the south side lets her set her own schedule, be creative, and control her life. Or at least, enjoy the illusion of it.
When Helen, a senior citizen Kara trims hedges for, implores her to watch over a believably real robotic cat as he investigates her granddaughter's murder, Kara wants to say no. Therapy cats aren't designed to investigate murder, but when a friend is arrested, she's all in.
The police aren't keen on their involvement, but you can't arrest a cat, right? Kara hopes not, because, with vandalism at the local zoo and a sharp rise in crime, more than peace of mind is at stake.
As Nick runs toward trouble and Kara delves deeper into why, it's going to take more than a shaved donkey to dissuade them.
