It is impossible not to laugh out loud at Joan's recollection of her early life in the UK, her clumsy and hilarious recruitment as an Enrolled Nurse in the early 1970s and her antics throughout her early nursing and Army career. Joan also shares her pain at being a victim of domestic violence, enduring the agony of losing a child and experiencing the tragic loss of 9 Australian Defence Personnel in 2004 while posted as an Army Captain Nursing Officer in Indonesia.
Living with PTSD since early 2005, Joan's story is ultimately one of celebration for nursing and Army career that spanned countries and remote Australian communities, a career that took her on many adventures.
