Untouchable

Raised by her daddy in South Carolina on the art of pitching a hardball, Greta learned the ways to grip a ball across its seams to make it break unexpectedly toward the inside or outside of home plate, up or down. She learned how to put the whole force of her body behind the throw. Her daddy showed her a grand windup that would distract batters. He taught her to be deceptive on the mound, but off it, talk straight and be nobody's fool.
She grew into her teenage years, tough and beautiful. When her high school wouldn't let her try out for the baseball team, she beguiled her way onto the all-male club, telling the principal she identified as a boy.
She is just nineteen years old, when a minor league manager allows her to practice with the team. Then, the combination to that safe we call destiny, is cracked open for the world to see. She is given a chance in a minor league game, and weeks later, a shot to pitch in the big leagues.
Initially hailed as a hero to girls of all ages, the young hurler displays a flamboyance on the mound that enhances each pitch, but also fuels a media frenzy dead set on banishing her from baseball.
