- Three up-and-coming artists explore the meaning of ritual in installations, films, and sculptures - A contemporary vision of how tradition, in the form of ritual, can be transformed and remain current Rituals shape our social relations and are highly significant in all cultures. They define communities and make transformation possible by conveying security and support. In this exhibition catalog, three up and coming artists - Baptiste Brossard, Helen Dowling, and Sara-Lena Maierhofer - explore rituals in their various contemporary forms. Based on predominantly time-based media such as photography and video, their works exemplify the ephemeral and performative character of ritual acts. This book accompanies an exhibition of the same name at Galerie Stadt Sindelfingen (Germany), and imparts a critical perspective on this elementary social force.
