John Lewis, astronaut Sally Ride, author Gore Vidal, former President Bill Clinton, domestic worker Santa Isaacs, former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, actor Spalding Gray. As she writes, "This is a book as much about the will to live as it is about courage. Such curious phenomena - phenomena that we all encounter at some point; profoundly, daily, suddenly, unexpectedly. Her interest is always the question, "What is courage?" Her goal being for each reader to locate themselves within these wide ranging, surprisingly unexpected thoughts.
