The Frozen

The Bio World War that decimated earth's population a thousand years ago was just the start. Though few survived the apocalyptic horrors, people and technology eventually bounced back. Christians, following a pieced-together version of the Bible called the Flawless Word, took over the earth in the wars that followed. Striving to rid the earth of mutations, disease, and disabilities--and become as much like God as possible--they required biological and spiritual purity for everyone.

Inhabitants of Xianova and the other protective Domes must uphold the standards of Purity. Those who fall short of this ideal-the Impures-are cryogenically frozen as an act of mercy. If their deficiencies remain uncorrected for 200 years, they are purged into space.

As Dean of Security, Shaan believes she's walking the True Path ... but is she? She feels unworthy of the prophecy that saved her from the cryogenic Blessing she now imparts on others. Every day Shaan seeks to bury her indelible biological stains under more devoted service to God and Xianova. She and her two enormous canine lieutenants are feared and revered for hunting Impures.

When Shaan is offered the opportunity to beta test the new Transparency of Thought biotech upgrade, she eagerly accepts. Then, while freezing Impures, she comes mind-to-mind with a young autistic boy whose telepathic abilities push her to put everything on the line--her family, her faith, and her life--to track down the Truth.
