Faith in Economics: The Bible as an economics textbook?

There is so much economic wisdom in the Bible. Owing to the divine origin of Scripture, it's unfortunate that academia would largely ignore it. Isn't God's wisdom better than man's? Why has economic theory and theology been treated as separate entities? Is there not a basis for integrating faith in the study of economics? Religion has much to do with economic outcomes. Don't Christians work, buy and sell in the marketplace? Scripture can add insight to the quest for economic as well spiritual wellbeing, for non-Christians as well as believers. Issues relating to wealth and poverty are not just economic in nature, they are at the heart of people's relationship with God and with each other in the marketplace. Perhaps this book can inspire a new perspective on the role of faith in economics and even add a spark of excitement to the study of economics once dubbed the "dismal science."
