Effectiveness of Skill Development for Employability Using Data Mining Tools

In today's time, the world is changing rapidly with different constraints. Globalisation is developing as a principal force in determining the economic status of the countries across the world. It tries to resolve the occupation barriers between developed and developing nations and encourages the integration of nations' economies through financial flow. Due to this revolution, there is a fast growth in industrial and business sectors. Global employers are looking for an employee with good knowledge of skill sets i.e. employability skills to meet the industry expectations. Some of the desired skill sets are the capability to communicate, work in teams, excel in professional skills, learn freely, grow with positive adaptability, and show work ethics and leadership skills. They are also looking for employees who can think holistically, innovate, work in teams and integrate social values and beliefs in their work. Employability skills are basic skills required in almost every job.

This book describes the significance of a study that bridges the gap between employee skills and industry expectations. The focus of the study is to express the importance of skills development for employability. It specifies the gap between acquired skills by employee for getting the job and industry expectation of desired skill set. It suggested scope for acquiring different skill set as per industry expectations and designing the curriculum to map the same.

The book details different challenges faced by the Industry at the time of recruitment. The study is carried out in two parts, primary data is collected through designed questionnaires from the responses and the Secondary data is obtained from government skill development scheme i.e. PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana). The collected primary data is analysed with the help of SPSS and MS-Excel application and secondary data is analysed through WEKA Data mining tool.
