Eighteen-year-old Sigi and her all-girl bandmates from Wanderlust want to enter the brutal underground music scene. It is not easy since her parents pressure her to prioritise her studies, an enemy lurks at school spreading nasty rumours, and complicated affairs with the underground boys.

Out of Order, the first novel in the coming series, The Tales of the Urban Misfits, is a coming-of-age fiction inspired by a true story.

Set to a soundtrack of punk rock and grunge such as The Clash, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Misfit, L7 and Nirvana, the book follows the life of Sigi Putri Masina, a girl living in Jakarta during the 1990s, in a nation with a Muslim majority and a strong military presence. While still a high school student, Sigi plays in an all-girl alternative band, and she broadcasts at a radio station, yet, as a young Muslim woman, her passions evoke judgments and harassment.

Shadowed by her controlling mother, she yearns to be a free spirit amidst increasing controversy in the male-dominated underground and herself. Sigi courageously follows her path despite these obstacles, a painful, inspiring choice and, ultimately, one full of hope.
