As we read in the Bible when the original marriage covenant was defiled, a great divorce had to take place, so a renewed covenant could be made with the coming of Christ. " You seem to be quite patient with anyone who comes to you and tells you about a Jesus that is different from the Jesus we told you about. You seem very willing to accept a spirit or a message that is different from the Spirit and message that you received from us." 2 Corinthians 11:4 This was Paul's concern then, and it should be our concern today... Are we encountering the same complacency as the Corinthian church? Have we become accustomed to a different Gospel message regarding the person of Jesus? Has our understanding of the marital union, as defined in the Word of God, been adulterated? It is absolutely imperative to study the Word of God and examine our hearts regularly. As followers of Christ, the culture today can carry us off course so gradually with the twisting of the truth and distortion of the Word. We must stay vigilant in the faith to avoid one day looking up and realizing just how far away we drifted and how distant the shore has become.
