Meet Monica, often known as Mo, who was abandoned by her mother and raised by her older sister, Angie.

She meets and moves in with her boyfriend Derrick at a young age. She succumbs to his harsh and cunning tactics, not understanding what true love is, and lets him control most of her life's decisions. Derrick does one terrible error that earns him a five-year prison sentence and releases Mo' from her duties to Derrick.

Derrick appears again five years later. Mo is now a successful businesswoman who has lost interest in the lifestyle she once led.
