She struggles to find her place in her new country which is not what she had expected as her first impressions were of a dull, grey and decaying wilderness where food continued to be rationed and the malicious madness from her darkest days still resided. The people she met seemed contemptuous, full of greed and treachery. The threads that connected the past and future appeared to have been severed as there seemed to be no person or thing that could save her or stand kindly by her side as she navigated her way through the mean streets of London.
