My Life as a Cactus is a comic account of Sara's misadventures and cultural clashes in Mexico. It is also a story of friendship, healing, and self-discovery.
Heartbroken, Sara quits her dead-end job in Queens and decamps in Mexico, a country where nobody ever dies, they just take long naps until the next year's Day of the Dead. With no money and a little Spanish, she knows she's ready for her new career in a new country because of the rolls of smashed toilet paper busting out of her suitcase. After all, how different can life in Mexico be?
It turns out,
very different.
