One health (OH) is a concept which states that the health of human beings is intrinsically related to the health of animals and the environment. It involves developing and implementing policies, programs and laws in which various sectors collaborate and cooperate for improving public health outcomes. OH issues encompass environmental contamination, antimicrobial resistance, vector-borne diseases, zoonotic diseases, food security and safety, along with other health concerns that affect the environment, humans and animals. Effective prevention and management of zoonotic disease require strategies based on OH that involve experts in human health, animal health, and environmental health. The aim of these strategies is to monitor and control public health threats, and learn about the spread of diseases among people, animals, plants and the environment. The disease-centered approach to zoonoses is replaced with a system-based strategy under the concept of one health. This book is a vital tool for all researching or studying the concept of one health. Its extensive content provides the readers with a thorough understanding of the subject.
