this book centers on the story of a working mother whose teenage daughter belonged to her gay one night stand partner. her mother had moved away in shame in order to protect her child from being identified or caught up in such situation. the daughter from childhood to youthful age grew up with a complicated identity. at certain young age, she figured out she was gay. something that was not deliberately created by her. she must learn to love herself unconditionally if she wants acceptance because subconsciously, she had first rejected herself. but to love herself, she must first forgive her father whom she feels is the root of her problems.
and finally, it teaches every parents to understand their teenage child going through such stage and how to love and accept them unconditionally. trying to see through the child's lens which will can help minimize the rate of suicide and unnecessary problems.
