Kinh Tam is a young Vietnamese girl whose parents force her to accept an arranged marriage. Raised in the traditional values of an aristocratic family, she does not dare to disobey her parents and tries to adapt to her new married life with a man she does not love.
However, Kinh's destiny is different and his great spiritual vocation ends up imposing itself. One day, after a strong fight with his family, he decides to leave his home to enter a monastery under a new masculine identity. From that moment on, she will no longer be a married girl, but "the monk."
