商品簡介

"It's the first time I can remember feeling real compassion for myself."
-Nick Watchorn, MDMA clinical participant featured in MDMA: A Breakthrough Therapy

"The public education that this book will generate is of critical importance for the mainstreaming of psychedelic-assisted therapy."
-Rick Doblin, Founder & President of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS)

"...not only a quick and easy-to-digest read but one that has us rooting for a commonly held human desire - to live authentically and free from our wounds."
-Dr. Shannon Snapp, Assistant Professor in Psychology

Written by reporter David E. Carpenter, who covers the business of therapeutic psychotropic drugs for Forbes. This is the true account of one man's struggle to cure his treatment-resistant PTSD and the brave decision he made to seek out a government-sponsored study using MDMA (Ecstasy) to treat his 22-year illness.

MDMA: A Breakthrough Therapy explores the true story of policeman Nick Watchorn, who lived through the infamous massacre in Port Arthur, Tasmania, and his eventual MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD. Follow Nick's journey through 3 medically induced MDMA sessions as he describes in gripping detail the transformative power of MDMA (a drug he had never taken before) and his quest for healing.

Delve into the astonishing journey of MDMA, from its inception in a laboratory at Merck & Co. in 1912 to its emergence as both a psychedelic party drug and a groundbreaking therapy for PTSD-with the likely prospect of being a doctor-prescribed medicine in the USA as early as August 2024.

Includes a foreword by Rick Doblin, Founder & President of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS).

Excerpt from MDMA: A Breakthrough Therapy
Clinical trials using MDMA for PTSD sufferers are a far cry from the philosophy of pharmaceutical companies across the world, where a pill a day is the mantra. Utilizing MDMA to treat trauma does not require ongoing, daily doses of medicine. The treatment is not meant to sedate away or mask a trauma. It isn't meant to cure just symptoms either. MDMA-assisted therapy is intended to go after the root cause of emotional pain and help patients troubleshoot answers to their problems. Once the pill and the patient do the hard work, there is generally no need for another pill. MAPS founder Rick Doblin puts a finer point on it: "It's not just about the MDMA experience itself - it's about what you do with it. The whole point is not to need any MDMA."
