It is quite astonishing what the FUMES AND PERFUMES curatorial team has collected on the walls of the Zlin multi-storey car park over ten years. Over the years, more than 500 pictures have been wallpapered and in some cases wallpapered again. Today, just over 300 works can be admired on the five car park decks. It is not only remarkable that this exhibition is taking place in such an unexpected location, but also the renowned photographic artists that the curatorial team has brought together. The more than 50 works on display include artists from all five continents. FUMES AND PERFUMES has enriched and changed the cultural landscape of the city of Stuttgart. It has brought great international photographic art into the public space, lowered the inhibition threshold for visiting an art exhibition and brought together a remarkable collection that has been freely accessible for years. It would be a bitter loss, not only for Stuttgart, if the Zlin multi-storey car park were to be renovated or even demolished in the coming years.
